Marvel

A black-and-white portrait of the photographer, Marvel Harris, on the beach, smiling brightly with his eyes closed, holding a towel around him.

Harris

Marvel Harris produces profoundly intimate and vulnerable self-portraits, using the camera lens as a mirror and record keeper. As a person with autism, photography provided a way for Harris to analyse and manage emotions that he was not capable of adequately describing before, offering a visual language to connect to the world around him.

Harris won first prize in the prestigious Zilveren Camera in the category documentary in 2018 and was elected as one of the Emerging Talents by LensCulture in 2019. The work of Harris has been shown in Dutch museums and cultural institutions such as Museum Hilversum, Fotogalerie Objektief and Musea Zutphen.
